Everyone who knows anything about
restaurants and famous restaurant owners knows the name Stephen Starr.
Starr is best known for his highbrow, showy restaurants boasting
exotic and attractive dishes in posh locations to the hip, high dollar crowd
and his newest, the Jones Restaurant in Philadelphia, is amazing.. The Jones Restaurant in
Philadelphia is another of Starr’s creations, but he’s chosen a
different sort of atmosphere this time.
Aiming for lowbrow instead, Starr has created the Jones Restaurant in
Philadelphia (right across the street from his Morimoto restaurant) with
what might feel like a 70s style flare.
Think green weave covered booths, brown carpet, and a low burning gas
fireplace inside a sunken dining room while a DJ scratches old-school
classic rock like the Steve Miller Band.
Even though the place is much less flashy than most of Starr’s
other brain children, corner picture windows and a packed bar make it just
as much of a hotspot. The menu isn’t as exciting or
decorative as many of Starr’s other restaurants – at the Jones
Restaurant in Philadelphia you’ll find mostly lowbrow favorites like fried
chicken, flavorful brisket, or, if you’re looking for something a little
more sophisticated, tuna over gnocchi.
Share a big helping of macaroni and cheese topped with breadcrumbs.
Desserts include a basic chocolate cake or chocolate chip ice cream
sandwich. A favorite beverage
at the Jones Restaurant in Philadelphia can also double as a dessert – try
the Bug Juice with a gummy worm garnish. It’s not easy to find parking at
the Jones Restaurant in Philadelphia, so you might just use the valet
service across the street at Starr’s Morimoto.
As for seating, the best seats in the house are in the mezzanine
overlooking the kitchen; it’s a more peaceful setting and directly
overlooks the action. Reservations
